Nomination and Voting Information. Like all the years we have 25 categories in which any person or organization can be nominated for. 

Mission: To recognise & celebrate businesses, organisations and individuals of African connection or origin who are doing well in  Australia.         

Nominations:        Open from Midnight of Friday 14th June 2024 to Midnight of Friday 7th of February 2025

  1. YOUNG ACHIEVER’S AWARD
    An award for those younger than 25 years and have been a beacon for leadership, community and cultural engagement. The recipient will have participated in activities that demonstrate excellence, cultural richness and diversity of being a person of African origin or connection. Africa Day Incorporated wishes to acknowledge, encourage and promote positive achievements of all young people. Previous Winners of this award: None
  1. SPORTS PERSON OF THE YEAR
    The recipient of this award shows a traceable and proven track record of excellence in sport, fitness and physical wellbeing. Previous Winners of this award: Joyce Mada Takaidza - 2023. Tinashe Madanha - 2024
  1. MEDIA PERSONALITY / MEDIA OUTLET OF THE YEAR
    Awarded to an individual or media group that has demonstrated excellence in media and journalism, quality and uniqueness in the manner they provide services, news, entertainment and analysis on important issues of the day happenings locally and internationally throughout the year.   1. SOCIAL CHANGE/IMPACT

  1. ARTIST OF THE YEAR 
    Awarded to an individual or group that has demonstrated great artistic talent, quality and uniqueness of music, and or performances throughout the year. They will have a huge presence and impact on their audiences/listeners. Previous Winners of this award: None
  1. COMMUNITY CHAMPION/VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
    Awarded to a recipient who has shown extraordinary commitment and has taken it upon him OR herself to work tirelessly and lead in the improvement of the people of African origin or connection in Australia. Previous Winners of this award: Peter Oldfield - 2023, TArik Mohammed 2024
  1. COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR
    An organization that has worked and campaigned tirelessly to deliver sustained positive impact and outcomes to the African Community in Australia and abroad.   1. RELIGIOUS ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR
    A group that has shown a deep and selfless passion for helping others during a crisis through spiritual counselling. Previous Winners of this award: Pineal Free Pentecostal Church - 2023, Omega Fire Ministries 2024
  1. ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
    This is awarded to an entrepreneur who has demonstrated resilience and excellence in business and investment with a proven track record of genuine ability and passion in operating a successful business enterprise.   1. BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
    A business that can demonstrate a long-standing commitment of a responsible business and leadership in the marketplace, workplace, environment and the community.   1. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
    A person who excelled in the fields related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Accounting, Law, Medicine, Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Mathematics. Previous Winners of this award: Dr Bosco Opi 2024
  1. RESEARCHER OF THE YEAR

EXCELLENCE IN GOVERNANCE                                                                                                                                                                        A person who has excelled well as a political leader. The person should be of African origin or African Connection.   1. MULTICULTURAL ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR

  1. EXCELLENCY IN PHILANTHROPY

 21. RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR

 22. AUTHOR/PUBLISHER OF THE YEAR:

Awarded to an established author or publisher who has maintained excellent presence to his or her clients. Previous Winners of this award: Esther Simbi - 2022, Dr Juuk 2024

 23. BEST DRESS ON GALA & AWARDS NIGHT

This is a people's choice award given to an individual with best dress on the night. Previous Winners of this award: Yemba Anosumba - 2022, Carolyn Omenda - 2023

 24. AFRICA DAY DANCE COMPETITION CHAMPIONS

Awarded to a group who will have come out tops in the Africa Day Dance Competition challenge open to groups and individuals on the AWARDS & GALA night. Previous Winners of this award: Just For Fun The Dance Group - 2023

 25. AFRICA DAY SPORTS CHAMPIONS

Awarded to a sports team that will have won the Africa Day Sports Competition. Previous Winners of this award: Afghanistan Community Soccer Team - 2021, Somalia Africa Day Soccer Champions 2024
